Occasionally life brings us great happiness,
We did not deserve it,
We did nothing for it,
But we got it all the same,
That’s the way it is sometimes,
And there is nothing we can do about it.

We did not deserve it,
We did nothing to bring it upon us,
But it just happened anyway,
That’s the way it is sometimes,
And there is nothing we can do about it.

However, between these two extremes,
Most of life is finely balanced and could go either way,
But why then, if it's the same for all of us, are some people generally happy and some are not?
It all boils down to just a little nudge.
A tiny nudge to tip the balance in one direction or the other.

If we have hope, we will see new possibilities
If we have despair, we will give up
If we smile we will feel the warmth of welcome
But if we scowl we will feel the force of rejection.

Little things, tiny nudges, but they make a difference.

A prayer whispered may be all that is needed,
Not because prayers miraculously change the world,
But because they can change us and the way we see things,
Just a little nudge in the right direction.

A moments meditation,
A letter written,
A forgiveness for a deep wrong done to us,
Forgiveness for ourselves,
Just little things.

Perhaps reading these words may be all you need,
To nudge your life in a new direction.

So hail and farewell my gentle friend,
May peace and love go with you,
I give you my blessing,
It may not be much,
But it could make all the difference.
